Twin Cities Community Hospital to Host Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Templeton, Calif., April 14, 2008 – Twin Cities Community Hospital has designated April 27th – May 3rd as Volunteer Recognition Week, and will celebrate local volunteers by hosting a luncheon on May 1st at 11:00. The Hospital has over 70 volunteers who aid the hospital staff in both patient and non-patient services. These dedicated individuals can be seen greeting incoming patients and their families, working in the gift shop and OB Unit, knitting hats and blankets for newborns, hanging stockings during the Christmas season, and making sure that every child has a blanket and stuffed animal while they are a patient at the hospital.
Twin Cities Community Hospital has had a volunteer program since 1977 and is actively involved in the local community. While some events are celebrated within the hospital and amongst the close knit staff, outreach into the medical, academic, and local community are of the upmost importance. Rick Lyons, Chief Executive Officer is a great supporter of the volunteer program, stating that the, “Volunteers are at the heart of all we do at Twin Cities Community Hospital. Each caring and dedicated individual makes a real difference in the lives of our patients, and the departments they support.”
Wilma Breig has been a volunteer with Twin Cities Hospital for over 6 years and has been involved in all areas of the hospital. When asked why she decided to volunteer at Twin Cities Community Hospital, she replied, “I have lived in the North County for over 35 years, and wanted to give back to the community. It is such a warm and friendly place to live, and I felt that the hospital would be a perfect place to volunteer.”
