Fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon James B. Carr, MD, leads the team of highly trained professionals at the Spine Center.

Dr. Carr focuses exclusively on the diagnosis and treatment of neck and back problems. He performs minimally-invasive microsurgery for herniated discs and cervical spinal fusions as well as artificial lumbar disc replacements, complex spinal reconstructions and scoliosis surgery.  Dr. Carr treats degenerative disc and spine disease.

Dr. Carr completed his Spine Fellowship at University of California, Davis, in Sacramento and his Orthopedic Residency at University of Kansas School of Medicine. He graduated from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and also completed a Masters Degree in Biology and Bachelors Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from California State University, Northridge.

For three years during his Masters program Dr. Carr also ran the Neurophysiology Lab of Dr. Rick Delamarter at UCLA. His spinal cord research at UCLA resulted in publications as well as these national and international research awards.
