Frequently Asked Questions
My physician has written an order to have lab tests done, what can I expect?
When you come to visit the Out Patient Diagnostic Center for lab testing you will start the process with Admitting who will ensure we have all of your correct information. The lab will then be notified and bring you into one of our two private phlebotomy rooms.
A certified phlebotomist will collect the necessary specimens and bring them directly to the lab for testing. For most tests your physician will receive a copy of the results by the end of that day.
What is fasting and when is it required?
Certain tests (such as glucose or a cholesterol panel) require fasting. Please consult with your physician if you have any questions regarding fasting before visiting the laboratory.
Fasting requires that you do NOT eat or drink anything 12-14 hours before your lab test.
However, drinking water is allowed and encouraged. All medications should be taken as usual.
