TEMPLETON, CA (December 4, 2012) – Twin Cities Community Hospital was honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit advocacy group for hospital transparency founded by the nation’s leading employers and private healthcare experts. Twin Cities Community Hospital is one of just 92 hospitals in the state of California (37%) to receive an “A” in the Hospital Safety Score, and was one of 1,100 hospitals to participate in the annual, free and voluntary Leapfrog Hospital Survey across the nation.
Calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s nine-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety ScoreSM uses 26 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score (A, B, C, D or F) representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. The score is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
“Hospitals like this that earn an ‘A’ have demonstrated their commitment to their patients and their community,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I congratulate Twin Cities Community Hospital for its safety excellence, and look forward to the day when all hospitals will match this standard.”
Twin Cities Community Hospital CEO Mark Lisa said, “I appreciate the incredible hard work, dedication, and professionalism from everyone on staff – from volunteers to physicians and board members – that have made it possible for Twin Cities to hold such a high standard for health and safety. Twin Cities goes above and beyond to look out for the well-being of our community and we are both proud and humbled to be able to offer award-winning medical services to the people of North County.”
