Financial Assistance Programs

It’s important that you receive the care you need when you need it. But, if you or your loved one have insufficient insurance coverage you may be unsure how to pay for that care. At Twin Cities Community Hospital, we’re dedicated to helping our community, which is why we offer alternate funding and payment plan options so that more people can get the care they deserve. Below are some of the financial assistance programs that are offered at Twin Cities. A Twin Cities patient advocate can be reached at (805) 434-4680 to help guide you through the process.

Medical Eligibility Program (MEP)

The Medical Eligibility Program is a hospital service provided to you at no cost. You may qualify for government programs which pay for all or part of your hospital and medical expenses. If you are under 21 or over 65 years old, have children in the household, are pregnant, potentially disabled, or have been a Victim of Crime you may qualify.

Government Programs

You may qualify for a government program to assist with health care coverage, including:
  • Medicaid/Medi-Cal
  • Temporary Assistance for needy Families
  • Social Security Disability
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • County Indigent
  • Victims of a Violent Crime Fund
You may obtain a Medi-Cal application online.

Charity Care Program-Financial Assistance

Charity care is available to patients who do not have the means to pay for hospital expenses and do not qualify for any government programs. You may qualify for hospital financial assistance if your household income is below 350 percent of the federal poverty limit or if your annual out of pocket medical costs exceeded 10 percent of your household income in the past 12 months.

To be considered for this assistance program, you’ll be required to provide information on your household finances through a confidential financial application. Documentation will be requested to verify your circumstances in order to determine eligibility. Please contact the Financial Assistance Center at (888) 233-7868, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST for additional information.

Uninsured Discount Program

Uninsured patients are eligible for our Compact with Uninsured discounts. Our hospital patient advocates will assist you with understanding the rules of eligibility for the Uninsured Discount Program.
